Holiday Girls Tell All!

Why Every Woman Should Own at Least One Kaftan

Confessions of a kaftan convert. She might be a Holiday Girl but those who know Jolene, know she's not one to blow sunshine anywhere, unless she means it. This should be good!

Okay, so I admit, I am a little late to join the kaftan train, but now I've hopped on, there is no going back!

Whilst traditionally kaftans were long flowing garments that reached the ground, with long sleeves, contemporary kaftans now come in an assortment of lengths and styles.

The beauty of kaftans is their versatility. What other summer staple can you think of that can be worn by women of any shape and size, any age, anyplace, and anytime? Okay so maybe sunglasses, but that's probably it!

That's right, I said anywhere. If you are thinking the humble kaftan can only be worn as a cover-up at the beach, you aren't maximizing your kaftans potential girlfriend. I'm talking...the beach, a bar, to a restaurant...even on the school pick-up or whilst you do the grocery shopping!

The loose flowing feature of many kaftans makes them especially appealing to those of us who are a little self conscious about the tummy or thigh area, and makes them fabulous for everyday wear. Let's face it, if you want to look fabulous, you also need to feel fabulous.

Confidence and comfort are the key to any outfit.

Team short length kaftans with leggings, or skinny jeans to balance your look, or wear a cotton slip underneath when you want to show your legs off. White jeans or light-coloured pants look especially fresh during the summer, and can really give your outfit that wow-factor. For those of you who are shaking your head thinking, 'I am not a white pants kind of girl,' trust me. Try it. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!

Chunky jewellery and flat jewelled sandals or a gorgeous pair of woven platform heels adds that effortlessly chic touch to your outfit, and can turn a day-time outfit easily into an evening one.

Slender women look fabulous in kaftans too, though you may prefer to go for a more slim-fitting style, wear with a belt, or try a back or side tie to accentuate your waist line.

The elegance and length of maxi-length kaftans make them a perfect choice for evening wear, when you'd like to exude a little feminine sophistication, and let's be honest ladies, who doesn't every now and then?

And let's not forget how easy they are to pack in your suitcase if you are going away somewhere. (I tend to opt for a fabric that won't crinkle as there is little on this earth that I detest more than ironing.)

So, there we have it.

For ultra reliable, versatile summer style, for me, it's all about the kaftan.
