Bottoms with Modesty : Swim Skorts, Board Shorts and Beach Pants

Anita McLachlan - 28th August 2022

As much as we love our swimmers, sometimes they're just not the right option when it comes to being more active in and by the water. Pieces that offer more modesty and comfort are in order.

As the weather warms up, it's time to come out of hibernation and start getting out there, doing more of what make us happy in and around the water. Maybe you love to swim? Sup? Snorkel? Love a long beach walk and a dip in the ocean before you head home?

Whatever you love to DO when the weather warms up, knowing that what you wear is going to hold up its end of the bargain is important. So that whatever you're doing, you can do it without fuss, bother and unnecessary distraction.

For many of us that means our usual Swimmers won't do. Swim options that offer more coverage, more modesty are more appropriate.

Let me introduce to you 3 fabulous swimmable that might just be what you've been searching for.

  • Swim Skorts - You're seeing them first right here! The Teal Skort and classic Navy Skort from Australia's Es Una.
  • Black Board Shorts - with stretch for comfort and quick drying too from Capriosca.
  • Sun Safe Beach Pants also by Es Una in Navy and Black

What on earth is a Skort? you may be asking. Skorts have been around since the late1800's. It's a piece of 'activewear' that combines a skirt with shorts. The shorts are under, sewn into a skirt over. Serena Williams made them famous in the tennis world. Now Es Una is making them famous in the Beachwear world; for those who prefer the look of a skirt but appreciate the comfort and support of shorts.

They have:

  • an extra wide waist band for tummy support and comfort
  • a pocket in the shorts that will hold your mobile phone and
  • a D-Ring on the front to clip your keys, sunscreen, hair ties or hat
  • a sun safe rating of UPF50+ for maximum sun protection
  • pool tough Chlorine Resistant powers too
  • Sizes S-XXL so up to about a 22.

These Board Shorts are a little different too.

  • lightweight fabric with considerate stretch so they move well with you.
  • fast drying
  • elasticated waist band with drawstring - to work with your shape
  • easy wear style with straight legs that finish about mid thigh
  • concealed back pocket and elasticated drawstring waist seal the deal.
  • Sizes 12-26.

Beach Pants don't need to be cotton.

  • made from Sun Safe and Chlorine tough swim fabric.
  • extra wide waist band
  • tapered leg - they are a shape that looks great on most.
  • great alternative to leggings if you are after a less fitted look with full leg coverage.
  • a couple of pleats at the front for extra tummy and hip room
  • deep ankle cuff (with beautiful tuck detailing) to help keep them in place and stop the water from flowing in
  • Sizes S-XXL so up to about a 22.

Practicality, Sensibility and Style combine in each of these new Bottoms.
I reviewed them all recently for you. Find their videos below:
